Shape Shifters
On a distant planet, there is a civilization of alien beings conducting a centuries long study of lifeforms throughout the universe. As they are amorphous creatures, they find it helpful to emulate the body forms of other beings in order to understand them. Currently their research is focused on us. They collect satellite transmissions containing videos and images, and use that information to guide their physical transformations. It is difficult for them to discern the factual from the fictional and fantastical.
